Burning Candles, Meditation and Holly Golightly

When things get hectic at work, I tend to let other areas of my life slide. Pretty common thing to do when you're busy, I suspect.

So, when someone comments that I must be burning the candle at both ends, to me it means that ...

I've messed up something pretty bad and they feel sorry for me because I'm so busy, or

I look terrible and they feel sorry for me because I'm so busy.

No, nothing more. It's just one of those two things.

Since my vacation (with the hippies) I've been trying to keep things more balanced. I've been leaving work at a 'decent' hour, I'm making time to workout, and finding more time to relax and unwind.

If you know me, that is a MAJOR undertaking. There is no such thing as 'hangin' out' with me because I always find something to do. Run errands, organize cabinets, do my nails, if I'm sitting still I feel like I'm leaving things undone.

Weekly massages and a meditation CD are helping get me in a calm zone. [Drugs would help too, but I'm clean.] Plus, I'm re-reading the classics, so far Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye, to keep me from getting juiced up on TV in the evenings.

My thought is the less stress I put on myself the more I can take from others. I hope I'm right. Just in case, I'm reading Breakfast at Tiffany's next and may take some clues from Holly Golightly!
